VIDA

1986

The album A Barca dos Amantes is launched, recorded live with Wayne Shorter in São Paulo. The partnering with Mercedes Sosa and Leon Gieco is continued, also recording live, in Argentina, the record Corazón Americano. The following years are marked by great international tours.

In 1988 he performs for the first time in Japan. In the same year, Milton Nascimento's first fan club is founded in Tokyo, the Fã Clube da Esquina (a pun on the name of his album and the words Fã Clube, literally fan club in Portuguese).

1990

His album Txai, conceived from a journey of over 18 days by boan through the river Juruá, in the state of Acre all the way to the border with Peru, reaches first place in Billboard's top list of World Music. In this journey, Milton meets with several indigenous tribes, tappers and other woodland folk.

Milton Nascimento gets picked twice as "World Beat Artist of the Year" by "DownBeat" magazine: in 1991 by the DownBeat Reader's Pool and in 1992 by DownBeat Critic's Pool.

1993

His first album recorded by Warner comes out, Ângelus, considered by Milton the third Clube da Esquina. The album features James Taylor, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Jon Anderson, Naná Vasconcelos, Ron Carter, Peter Gabriel, Pat Metheny, Gil Goldstein and Jack Dejohnette.

The recording of this album began in a small set up studio in a farm in Esmeraldas, Minas Gerais, and was concluded in New York City.

1995

In the Palácio das Artes in Belo Horizonte, Milton records Amigo, accompanied by Orquestra Jazz Sinfônica de São Paulo and two child choirs: the Curumins, from Belo Horizonte and the Rouxinóis, from Divinópolis.

During this tour Milton considers ending his carrier, but due to the smile of one of the children in the choir, he gives up on that idea.
The boy's name is Mardey and he is today Milton's adopted son.

Dedicated to Ayrton Senna, the Amigo project travels around the world, with Milton and the children performing in NYC, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, accompanied by NY's philharmonic orchestra, at the Montreux Festival and in London at the Royal Albert Hall, with the Royal Philarmonic Orchestra of United Kingdom.

The following year he is awarded by the Rainforest Foundation because of his actions in favor of ecology and the indigenous peoples.

In London, Milton performs with the Rouxinóis, Curumins and the children of a charitable entity in request of Lady Diana.

1997

After a long time dedicated mainly to the overseas, Milton goes back to basics and brings out the Nascimento album, as well as the Tambores de Minas tour, with direction by Gabriel Villela.

For over a year, he tours Brazil with the concert.
